Location: Lausanne (Switzerland)

The Usability Engineering Intern will contribute to the design, evaluation, and documentation of usability-related activities throughout the product development lifecycle. You will work closely with our Research & Development (R&D), Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs (QARA)and clinical teams to contribute to and validate user interface design and functionality and to ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IEC 62366, ISO 14971) and guidance (e.g., FDA guidance on human factors) while improving the safety and effectiveness of our device.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist in planning and executing usability engineering activities as required by IEC 62366-1 and relevant regulatory guidance (e.g., FDA Human Factors).

• Support user research, including contextual inquiries, interviews, surveys, and task analyses.

• Help design and conduct formative usability studies, including protocol development, test moderation, and data collection.

• Contribute to risk management activities by identifying potential use-related hazards and supporting mitigations.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of the Usability Engineering File (UEF) documentation.

• Collaborate with designers and engineers to translate usability findings into actionable design improvements.

• Stay up to date with human factors best practices in medical device development.

 

Descriptif du profil

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Biomedical engineering or equivalent. Freshly graduated students are also eligible to apply for the position.

• Strong interest in medical technology and regulatory compliance.

• Familiarity with user-centered design methods, usability testing, or risk analysis is a plus.

• Proficient written and verbal communication in English.

• Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently in a dynamic startup environment.
